The job of a dishwasher involves operating a dishwasher machine, which uses hot water and detergent to clean and sanitize the dishes and utensils, as well as manually washing items that are not suitable for the dishwasher. In addition to washing dishes, a dishwasher may also be responsible for keeping the dishwashing area clean and organized, as well as performing other tasks as needed, such as restocking supplies and assisting with food preparation. The job of a dishwasher can be physically demanding and requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, lift heavy objects, and work in a wet and potentially slippery environment.
Dishwasher job responsibilities
- Please bring clean dishes, flatware and other serving items to the serving area and set tables
- Provide counter service or buffet service to customers
- Clean and well maintain tables, trays and chairs
- Clean, sanitize and keep items such as dishwasher mats, carts and waste disposal units clean
- Load containers with packaged items and the bus pans or trays
- Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware and flatware that have been used by customers
- Place dishes inside the storage area
- Ensure that condiments and other supplies are available at tables and serving areas
- Clean and sanitize dishes, food preparation equipment and utensils by hand
- Scour pots and pans with a scouring pad to remove excess food particles
- Trash and garbage should be removed from the kitchen
- Clean and sanitize all kitchen surfaces, cupboards, storage areas and equipment
- Wash, mop, and sweep floors; polish them
